Plantation forestry has been restricted in water-short South Island catchments.

M. Bloomberg

Rotorua, New Zealand: New Zealand Institute of Forestry.

This paper discusses the policies and rules such as the Canterbury Resources Regional Plan, Moutere Water Management Plan and the Tasman District Regional Policy Statement, which restrict plantation forestry particularly in the water-short South Island catchments in New Zealand. The implications of this plantation forestry restriction on Canterbury forest owners are presented.
