Forest certification in New Zealand: how are we doing?

This paper briefly describes the certification process in New Zealand and other related developments. The strengths and weaknesses of certification outcomes identified in the initial assessments of eleven certified companies are discussed, and the implications for the ongoing certification of New Zealand forests are presented. The Forest Stewardship Council principles and criterias are also presented.
